ADEO promotes the PHC concept, where the main purpose is to empower the communities to take active responsibility for their own health. Primary Health Care (PHC) is a concept that emphasizes community empowerment and universal access to health. The community should be empowered to take charge of the responsibility of the processes that will impact on their own health. Priority aspects of health care that under ADEO’s focus are; health system development and strengthening, Reproductive Health, in particular adolescent health, maternal and child health, communicable diseases with special emphasis on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI) strategy is key to childhood communicable disease control. Effective implementation of PHC will contribute to reducing health inequity through innovative interventions aimed at removing all kinds of obstacles of access to health care.

ADEO empowers communities through training and involving them during conceptualization, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation stages.
