In Africa, at least over half of the 53 African countries are hit by between two (2) and eight (8) large disasters every year. The disasters include; drought, famine, floods, earthquakes, wars (mainly civil wars) and disease epidemics (HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, meningitis, Measles, yellow fever and Malaria). The disasters result in displacement of people as IDPs and refugees. ADEO places a lot of importance on preparedness and timely response.

In 2008, ADEO responded to support the 2007 Kenya post-election violence Internally displaced people(IDPs) in Nairobi, Limuru, Nyamira and Busia, providing medicines, supplies including blankets, mattresses and food.
